Financial Advisor - Credentials
I’m Miriam Neff, and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, with Wise Women Managing Money.
M Since God entrusts us with all we have, it’s important that we steward what is His wisely. We’ve been sharing tips on mistakes people make when looking for a financial advisor. One mistake is not asking about their credentials.
V To give investment advice, some financial advisors pass a test. Ask your advisor about their licenses, tests, and credentials. Financial advisors tests include the Series 7, and Series 66 or Series 65. Some advisors go a step further and become a Certified Financial Planner, or CFP. Some are an RIA.
M To summarize, do not hire an advisor who Is not a fiduciary. Do not hire the first advisor you meet or choose an advisor with the wrong specialty. Or neglect asking about credentials.
