M Solving financial conflict in marriage is vital.  We’ve stated that open communication is a required beginning.  Having separate budgets for personal expenses is a good option.  It’s also important to understand your spouses ‘Why.’

V  Mom, you grew up quite poor.  You and Dad both worked hard. Not only did he need professional suits, He liked quality things.  You came together to record every expense and go over those together at the end of each month. We do the same, but we use spreadsheets not paper and pencil.

M  Simply understanding our spouse is a good start.  I liked making family clothing. This was economical at that time.  And I purchased a great sewing machine. He purchased nice professions suits. Different, but a compromise that worked.
