04 Idolizing Stuff

M Scripture is clear that we are not to love money.  What we love can be controlling.  Our things become our obsession, our portfolio, our living space, our appearance. 

V The apostle John, aged and banished to the island of Patmos, wrote to Christ followers reminding them of who they were, how to know if they are Christ followers.  The last line of that book.  1 John 5:21.  Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.  Clearly stated:  Love God, love our fellow believers, not stuff. 

M Take a look at your bank account and calendar.  These reflect what matters.  These show me what idols tempt me.  I want to love God most.
