In God We Trust

M Where do we look for direction with our finances?  ‘In God We Trust’ was used on coins in the Civil War and then adopted in 1956 as the official motto of our country.  It’s meaning is that the political and economic prosperity of our nation is in God’s hands.

V Our country has moved far from that concept.  Exhibit A; our national debt. Living beyond our means is not biblical.  We have a saying regarding personal finances.  ‘In God We Trust, all others bring data;’ or in this case, cash.  Biblical guidelines are that it’s rarely ok to be in debt, don’t cosign for others, and don’t enable bad behavior.  Following biblical guidelines rather that your countries behavior, has our trust where it belongs.  In God alone.
