I’m Miriam Neff and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan with Wise Women Managing Money.

M What are the dangers for those who want to be rich?  I Timothy 6:9 lists those as senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.  Strong words.

V Our culture encourages comparing, looking successful, and incurring debt to get there. Harmful desires like passing up siblings or acquaintances in income size, home size, cars lead to ruin.  Maybe financial ruin, but also character ruin.

M Helpful desires are to provide well for one’s family, and others in need.  To be generous with the church, Jesus’ bride.  To provide jobs for workers, good products.  To be rich can be a great blessing, when one’s desire is to please God.
